Savannah Branch of NAACP met at the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church Sunday.

During the meeting a number of organizations, including the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, Coffee Party Savannah, Savannah Regional Central Labor Council, Occupy Savannah, and Greening Georgia joined to inform the public on their latest issues, successes and ideas.

"It's an opportunity to bring together what we call our coalition partners, to hear what their organization has in the works, and to also share what is going on in the NAACP, to further our partnership and to build new allies," said Chatham County Commissioner Al Scott.

During the meeting they also discussed improving education standards and alternate sentencing methods for crime involving African-American youth from the Savannah area.
