Police nab 3 suspects in counterfeit currency incidents

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

Statesboro Police Department has arrested three subjects for passing counterfeit currency to five different Statesboro businesses.

On Tuesday, Khadijah Jones, 18, of Stone Mountain, Tyrell Robinson, 22, of Savannah, and Khalif Uqdah Ibn Khalif, 26, of Savannah, went to five businesses in Statesboro and purchased items by using counterfeit U.S. currency.

One of the businesses called the Statesboro Police Department and gave officers a description of the vehicle and the suspects. Cpl. Andrew Samples later noticed a vehicle matching the description and performed a traffic stop on the vehicle. Samples recovered a quantity of counterfeit bills from the vehicle. He also found receipts from other area businesses in the vehicle.

Jones has been charged with five counts of forgery and two counts of attempted forgery. Robinson has been charged with five counts of forgery, two counts of attempted forgery, and one count of giving false information. Khalif has been charged with five counts of forgery and two counts of attempted forgery.
