Ceremony marks start of building Night Stalkers memorial

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A ceremony is underway in front of the Night Stalkers command headquarters at Hunter Army Airfield.

They're breaking ground on a new Night Stalker memorial.

Members of Third Battalion 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment - and family of fallen Night Stalkers are there at the site that will soon honor the service and sacrifice of one of the most selective and secretive special ops battalions in the military.

Since the 160th Soar was founded in the 1980s, 20 Night Stalker soldiers have been killed in combat or in training.
