BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office says a woman has been arrested after her child was discovered with second- and third-degree burns.

Investigators responded on June 23 to the emergency room at East Georgia Regional Medical Center for an injured child.

Investigators photographed second- and third-degree burns to the buttocks of the 1 year old child and opened a criminal case, according to the BCSO.

Investigators interviewed their mother Victoria Grace Eason who said she had delayed seeking treatment for the child's injuries for several days, according to the BCSO.

Eason was charged with second-degree cruelty to children for her failure to act immediately when the child was initially injured, causing the child to suffer excessive pain over several days.

She is being held at the Bulloch County Jail pending further judicial action. An investigation into how the child was burned continues.
