Two people were arrested after a joint investigation conducted by the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team and the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Dept.

Shortly after 12 p.m. Friday, police responded to a call for assistance in Westlake Apartments.  Officers were told there were unauthorized people living inside one of the apartments. During the eviction, officers smelled marijuana inside the apartment and found someone hiding in one of the bedrooms.  An assault rifle and a bag of marijuana were also found in the unit, according to the CNT.

The apartment was secured by Officers and both Metro Police Detectives and CNT Agents responded to the scene.

CNT and SCMPD detectives searched the apartment. Four handguns and an estimated 7 pounds of marijuana, five guns and more than 1,300 rounds of ammunition for the assault rifle were found in the apartment, according to the CNT.

Tashay Jenkins, 20, and 17-year-old Antwan Bush were arrested. Jenkins is leasing the apartment.

They are charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of firearms during the commission of a crime and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

They're being held at the Chatham County Detention Center and are expected to be arraigned Monday in the Recorder's Court of Chatham County.

The investigation continues and more charges and arrests are possible.
