SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

An Amtrak train collided with a pickup truck that stalled on the tracks early Sunday morning.

It happened on Grove Point Road in Savannah around 6 a.m.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police, Southside Fire/EMS and CXS Police all responded to the incident.

Officials tell WTOC the driver of the pickup truck turned down Grove Point Road, not knowing where he was. The driver drove onto the tracks, where his truck stalled.

The Amtrak train, carrying 267 passengers headed to Miami, was traveling about 70 mph when it collided with the truck.

Amtrak Police says the conductor could not see the truck, just a reflection of something down the tracks. By the time they could see what it was, it was too late to stop.

The driver of the pickup truck made it out in time and was not injured.

None of the passengers on board the train were injured.
