SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah man was arrested Monday morning in connection with several fires at a south side apartment complex that occurred in late March and early April.

Investigations said 24-year-old Juwan Johnson was arrested Monday morning at a business in the 10400 block of Abercorn St., according to Savannah Fire and Emergency Services news release.

He had been charged in June through a federal indictment with three counts of arson in connection with fires at the Stratford Arms Apartment complex at 126 Tibet Ave. Savannah firefighters responded to three different fires March 31, April 2 and April 8 at the apartment complex.

The three separate fires were reported by Johnson and SFES investigators determined that at least two of them were suspicious at the time, according to SFES. Two fires occurred near a storage building for maintenance and the other fire occurred in a vacant apartment unit.

Johnson is charged with three counts of arson and lying to a federal agent. He is in the custody of the US Marshal's Service awaiting an initial court appearance.

Johnson's arrest was the result of efforts from Savannah Fire & Emergency Services investigators, agents with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.
