SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Florida man wanted in connection with several sex offenses involving a child was arrested Wednesday morning in Savannah.

Johnathan Martin Lewis, 25, was wanted by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for sex offenses with a child over five years, according to the U.S. Marshals Office. He was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force 200 Block of Chatham Street.

The case was referred to the Jacksonville Office of the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force in June to find Lewis.

The task force launched an extensive investigation and generated a lead that Lewis was possibly in the Savannah area.

The information was forwarded on Tuesday to the Savannah Office of the task force. Lewis was arrested without incident and taken to the Chatham County Detention Center where he awaits extradition proceedings back to Florida, according to the task force office.
