Rainy weather is not stopping most people from enjoying themselves this holiday weekend.

"Rain, sleet or shine well be out having a good time and probably parting afterwards with a bunch of friends," said Troy Espy.

On Tybee Island, the 4th of July festivities are kicking off a day early. It's one of the most profitable weekends for area businesses. In between the unpredictable down pours, sales associates say business has been steady.

"Business hasn't been affected a lot whether it rains or shines. So we haven't really noticed a big difference in our sales," said Courtney Plante, a sales associate at Funky Fish.

July 3 is the main travel day for the five day holiday period. With wet weather and an increased number of vehicles on the road, Georgia State Patrol Troopers are urging drivers to go slow and use caution.

"Anytime we're dealing with rainy weather and wet roads and you have an increased number of travel then of course that does increase the number of people having those collisions out on the highways. So take the precautions. Slow down and travel at a safe distance," said Senior Trooper Joel Mock.

Georgia State Patrol says it will be out in full force throughout the holiday, making sure drivers obey the rules of the road and stay safe.
