SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police detectives continue piece together what led to an overnight shooting downtown that resulted in a bystander getting shot.

Shots rang out at about 12:15 a.m. Friday near Bay and Whitaker streets. A 22-year-old man suffered a shoulder would that's believed to be non-life-threatening, according to SCMPD. He was taken to Memorial University Medical Center.

Four men who ran from the shooting were detained for questioning, but none have been connected to the shooting. One of those questioned, Joseph Roscoe Marshall, 18, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, but he is not a suspect in the shooting, according to police. He was questioned after an officer saw him running from police on the 300 block of West Broughton Street.

The area around the shooting was immediately saturated with SMPD officers who were in the area for the annual July 4 festivities.
