Feed the Hungry's Summerfest coming up


Feed the Hungry Inc. announced the lineup for its Summerfest, which is set for Saturday. They held a news conference at noon on Friday at the Savannah Civic Center. 

Summerfest will be held 6 p.m. Saturday at the Savannah Civic Center's Johnny Mercer Theatre.

The lineup includes:


  • The King of Rap Kurtis Blow "The Breaks", from the movie House Party Full Force "Ain't my type of hype" R&B artist Allure "All Cried Out", Whodini "Friends', UTFO "Roxanne Roxanne"
  • Envogue's (Maxine Jones) "Hold on to your love"
  • MC Shan "The Bridge'
  • Gospel sensation Faith Crystal "Ain't No Mountain' 


There will also be a talent show and rising stars content. Kurtis Blow was asked by Feed the Hungry CEO and founder Rev. Carl Gilliard to write a song for the organization that would be a national anthem for the hungry. The track "Show Some Love" will debut nationally in November. 

Kurtis Blow got several artists involved in making the recording: Grand Master Melle Mell, Chuck D, Big Daddy Kane, Dana Dane, Full Force, the Force MD'S, Allure, Maxine Jones and Sparky D.

Tickets can be purchased at Feed the Hungry's Family Life Center at 4011 Augusta Rd. in Garden City and at all Civic Center outlets.
