Bluffton firefighters say there were no fireworks related incidents on the 4th of July.
Although fireworks-related incidents have decreased in Bluffton over the past three years, officials say this is the first 4th of July the department did not receive any reports. Last year, the department responded to three minor fireworks incidents on the fourth.
Capt. Randy Hunter, a spokesperson for the department, attributes the decline in fireworks-related incidents to folks taking their safety seriously, reading directions and being more cautious when using fireworks.
"I think people are finally listening to us, and they know what they have to do," said Hunter.
Burton, Beaufort, and Hilton Head Island fire departments all say they didn't have any fireworks-related incidents, and that this year's 4th of July weekend is shaping up to be a very safe one.
