LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Eleven people were taken to area hospitals after a van overturned on Interstate 20 in Lexington County.

The incident happened just after 9 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 44, which is just before the Pond Branch Road exit.

A spokesperson for the South Carolina Highway Patrol says six of those injured were ejected in the one-vehicle accident.

Two helicopters dispatched to the crash scene airlifted four of the victims. The others were transported on the ground.

Troopers say no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Both eastbound lanes between mile markers 43 and 44 were closed immediately following the incident.

Emergency crews re-opened the roadway after attending to the victims and removing the van.

The van is owned by a company that transports farm workers. The victims were from Amick Farms in Batesburg-Leesville.

Authorities have not released any information about the victims' injuries.
