TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

Crews are putting out hot spots on a fire at a home on Tybee Island.

Ten on-duty Tybee firefighters responded at 11:47 a.m. to a fire at a home on 12th Street. A witness said he first saw flames on the second floor.

Tybee Fire Chief C.L. Sasser said that due to the heat and humidity, some of them started to "fall out" from heat exhaustion. One firefighter was checked out in an ambulance, but returned to fighting the fire after cooling off.

Sasser said that because so many firefighters were overheating, they called out Southside Fire to assist.

Firefighters were inhibited from using ladder truck because of power lines.

Three people have been put out of their home due to the fire.
