POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

According to Pooler Police Chief Mark Revenew, officers responded to the report of an agitated male at Chinese Fir Court and Godley Station Boulevard in Pooler around 8 p.m. Monday.

Police say a white male in his 50s discharged a weapon at officers from inside a house. Police from Pooler, Garden City and Bloomingdale then surrounded the house where the suspect was located.

According to police, the suspect came out in a threatening manner with a firearm. Officers then took enforcement action. They are not saying what that action was.

"A shot was fired. Officer retreated. The man came out. Officers took enforcement action. We have called the GBI in to investigate," said Lt. Jim Ward, Pooler Police Department.

The suspect was transported by ambulance to Memorial. Police say his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Revenew says it was one of his officers who fired.

No one else was at the house at the time of the incident.
