Fatal shooting suspect on the loose in Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro police are on the hunt for a suspect after a fatal overnight shooting in Savannah. 

Officials say it happened around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday on E 38th Street near the intersection of Waters Avenue. 

Julian Miller, SCMPD Public Information Officer, spoke with WTOC and described what detectives found when they arrived at the scene. 

"A black male was dead from a gunshot wound. He's in his late teens to early 20s and we are in the process now of trying to formalize an investigation," said Miller. 

Metro police have a portion of 38th St. from Waters Avenue to Live Oak Street closed as they investigate. 

Detectives have been out searching for clues and processing the crime scene for over 3-hours and have launched a manhunt for the shooter.
