2 arrested on burglary charges

BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

Two people were arrested in Beaufort in connection with a burglary attempt.

Beaufort police responded at 1:50 p.m. July 6 to a report of suspicious activity at a home on Laudonniere Street. An officer saw a teen exit the back of the home and run through the yards of adjacent homes.

The officer located a juvenile nearby and another suspect Marcus Wright, 17, of Beaufort, and were both arrested, according to police.

Police said they had been burglarizing the home were interrupted when the officer showed up. They were arrested. The juvenile was taken to the Dept. of Juvenile Justice facility in Columbia for pretrial detention on second-degree burglary charges.

Wright was charged with second-degree burglary and attempted burglary in connection with trying to enter a Pilot Street residence on June 24.

    After years of an almost complete moratorium, the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council voted 12 to 1 Monday to open a limited 2017 red snapper fishing season in the South Atlantic. If approved by NOAA Fisheries, the season will likely begin in mid-to late October.
