A man who was shot Monday night at Chinese Fir Court and Godley Station Boulevard in Pooler has died, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Pooler Police Chief Mark Revenew said officers responded to the report of an agitated male at about 8 p.m. Monday. Police from Pooler, Garden City and Bloomingdale then surrounded the house where the man was located.
Police said Lance Clay was fired his weapon at officers so they were forced to fire back, hitting Clay in the torso.
Revenew said one of his officers fired their weapon. No one else was at the house at the time of the incident. The GBI is handling the investigation into the shooting.
Clay happens to be the father of a Pooler police
officer. His son was not on duty Monday night.
