GBI: Parents of murdered baby had gunpowder residue on hands

GLYNN CO., GA (WTOC) -

New evidence shows that the parents of a murdered baby in Glynn County had gunpowder residue on their hands after the shooting.

Two teens have been charged with shooting the baby in the face while the mother, Sherry West, pushed the baby down the street in a stroller.

West says the suspects, De'Marquise Elkins and Dominique Lang, shot her and the baby during a botched robbery.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation collected the gunpowder evidence. Defense attorneys now want prosecutors to hand over everything that the GBI collected on the parents.

West says the residue got on her hands while struggling for the gun. Her husband says he was shopping when the shooting happened.

The GBI says the residue could also come from an industrial source.
