SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The FBI and Garden City police responded to an armed robbery that occurred Thursday morning at the Savannah Bank at 100 Chatham Parkway.

Officials say a masked male armed with a silver and black gun entered the bank around 9:55 a.m. Four employees were inside at the time of the robbery. No customers were in the bank at the time.

The suspect got away. Authorities then launched a manhunt by air and by land in search of the suspect. K-9 units were out searching the woods around the bank, but have since returned to their vehicles.

Crime scene tape around the bank just came down, but the bank remains closed right now.

Police said the suspect is described as a black male who was wearing a green cloth bandana on his head with a black and beige stripped shirt and black shorts. He was also wearing a Green Bay Packers hat. According to police, he was carrying a black bag with a red lining when he ran behind the bank.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 912.234.2020 or text CRIMES (274637).
