STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

A Junior ROTC Sergeant at a local school was arrested this week for taking indecent liberties with a student, according to the Statesville Police Department.

On Monday, July 8, Iredell Statesville School officials reported an incident to Statesville Police that involved a former JROTC Sergeant, Jimmie Charles Dixson, 47, of Charlotte, and a female student at Statesville High School.

An investigation was immediately launched, and officials uncovered evidence which led to Dixson being charged with indecent liberties with a student, police said.

Dixson was arrested on Wednesday, July 10, at the Statesville Police Department.

He was taken before a magistrate and charged with the class I felony offense. He later posted a $3,000 bond and was released, with an initial court appearance set for Thursday, July 11, at 9 a.m.
