Area law enforcement continue to investigate two different bank robberies from Thursday morning.

Customers of Savannah Bank off of Chatham Parkway were shocked to find that their bank was closed after it was robbed just before 10 a.m.

"I mean it's just really surprising to me, and I can't believe that.  I hope that they catch the person that did that," said Dora Cooke, a customer at the branch.

The FBI and Garden City Police are working the case, telling WTOC that four employees were inside when a black male about 25 to 30 years old, wearing a Green Bay Packers hat and a mask, walked into the Garden City branch. Surveillance pictures show the suspect nearly jumping over the counter and holding the employee at gun point. Investigators say he then fled into the woods with an undisclosed amount of money.

"We're examining all facets of the bank and the local area to gather evidence to collect against the individual responsible for this," said Savannah FBI Supervisor Eugene Kowel.

About an hour and a half later, another bank was hit. The Coastal Bank off West Bryan Street downtown got robbed. Police describe that suspect as a black male about six feet tall with light complexion and glasses. He was wearing a white shirt and red and black shorts.

According to Savannah Chatham Metro Police Department, the suspected handed the tells a note claiming he had a gun and demanded money. He then left running toward Whitaker Street.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 912.234.2020.
