BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

Two men have been arrested in connection with vehicle break-ins in Beaufort.

Beaufort police responded just after midnight on July 11 on a report of a man stealing items from unlocked vehicles in the Pigeon Point area.

Police said residents reported seeing two men in a suspicious two-tone blue and silver pickup truck in the area. Officers spotted the pickup and the men a short time later in the parking lot of the downtown marina.

Stolen property was recovered from the suspects' pickup and both men were arrested, according to police.

Michael Hicks, 19, of Beaufort, was arrested for conspiracy and breaking into a motor vehicle. Sean Steck, 19, of Lady's Island, was charged with conspiracy and open container.

Hicks and Steck have been released from jail.

Police remind residents to keep the vehicles locked even when it is parked in the driveway.
