Flooding forces road closures in Hampton Co.

HAMPTON CO., SC (WTOC) -

Hampton County is under a severe flood warning until further notice, according to the Hampton County Emergency Management Agency. 

A 50-acre pond in Allendale County has reached high levels and extreme amounts of water are headed to the Hampton County area. 

Areas affected include the Brunson areas around Hickory Grove Bamberg Highway around Cherry Grove and Goat Hill.   

Hampton County Public Works and South Carolina DOT and Emergency First Responders are working around the clock to ensure safety to Hampton County residents, according to the emergency management agency.

Several secondary roads in Hampton County are closed or washed out. The EMA is unable to block off each road, so drivers are being asked to use caution and avoid dirt roads.
