Highway 30 at Meinhard Road in Port Wentworth is back open after a wreck sent four people to the hospital just after 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Investigators say two people are in serious condition and two others are in critical condition.
According to authorities, the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was heading west on Highway 30 when they attempted to make a last minute turn across the eastbound lane in front of an oncoming white Chevy Silverado.
"The Silverado did not have a chance to slow down or break at all. The vehicle just turned in its path. At this time, we are trying to follow up with our investigation and collect evidence," said Port Wentworth Police Chief Matt Libby.
Highway 30 was closed for nearly two and a half hours as investigators cleared the scene. The wreck remains under investigation.
