SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah man accused of a woman's death is looking to get the evidence that led to his arrest thrown out of court.

The body of 18-year-old Amber Deloach was discovered Sept. 30 2012, in a burning car in Yamacraw Village.

Shan Demetrius Cheley, 36, who lives near Skidaway Road and Eisenhower Drive, was charged with DeLoach's death.

Cheley and DeLoach had met each other the night before her body was found in the burning car.

At Cheley's motion hearing Friday, his attorneys argued that Cheely tried to envoke his right to remain silent, but that police kept talking to him anyway.

Chely shifted in his seat. Deloach's family watched as the defense questioned Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Det. Robert Santoro about two times he interviewed Cheley. Those videotaped interviews lasted about five hours.

In his testimony Friday, Chely had told detectives he wanted to go back to work and wanted to see his mother. In one interview on Oct. 18, which nearly lasted all day, Santoro testified that Cheley twice said he wanted to stop talking then changed his mind.

The defense doesn't buy it.
