Ga. Hwy 17 is still shut down after a dam collapsed in Screven County late Saturday night.
The Herbert Jacob Pond's dam breached just after 11 p.m.
Officials said water swept across Hwy 17, near Old Ogeechee Road, washing away dirt from underneath the road causing pieces of the road to collapse.
Screven County Emergency Manager Director Harvey Cryder told WTOC that the pond was completely drained after the breach and that there was some damage to some nearby railroad tracks.
Cryder said the water from dam only raised the Ogeechee River up to about a foot and a half.
The Georgia Dept. of Transportation is working to determine how long the roads will be closed due to repairs.
