Savannah rally to protest upcoming Ga. execution

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Groups across Georgia are getting ready to hold prayer vigils and rallies Monday to protest the scheduled execution of Warren Hill.

Hill is sentenced to die for the 1990 beating death of a fellow inmate at Lee State Prison. Hill's lawyers and the NAACP are arguing the execution should be stopped because he is too mentally disabled to understand his crime.

A rally is scheduled in Savannah Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Chatham County Courthouse on Montgomery Street.

This will be Georgia's second execution since the execution of Troy Davis.
