Family responds after devastating house fire

Posted: Updated:

A family whose two children were injured in a fire Sunday afternoon at Kensington Park at DeRenne Drive continue to ask for prayers for their children.

The fire left their children ages 6 and 13 critically injured. They remain at the pediatric ICU at Memorial University Medical Center.

The American Red Cross has provided food and clothing and is ready help them more temporary shelter and relocation expenses when needed.  Chatham County Red Cross volunteers have received several phone calls on how community members can help the family.

Red Cross volunteers remain in contact with the family. The family remains at the hospital with their two children who are in critical condition.

The family has decided not to set up a community fund at this time. The family says the gift cards are appreciated, but prayers from the community for their two children are more important to them, according to the Red Cross.

The family's wish is that anyone wanting to provide additional support can buy gift card at Wal-Mart, Publix, Kroger or other retail store.  Please do not mail checks.

Gift cards can be mailed to:
