Beaufort County is the latest school district to sign on board for a pilot teacher evaluation program across South Carolina.
Seven Beaufort County schools will participate in the new program which aims to evaluate teachers based on the performance of their students and their school.
As the state changes its evaluation system, Beaufort County school officials say they just want to make sure they'll have a seat at the table.
"Our teachers don't mind being held accountable for their performance, they just want the evaluation system to be fair and to have it accurately represent the work that they're doing in the classroom," said Jim Foster, Director of Communications for the Beaufort County School District.
Two schools from Hampton County District 2 and one from Jasper County are already on board with the pilot program.
