COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Heavy rains brought flash flooding problems across South Carolina.
Several inches of rain Sunday evening brought flooding to parts of Columbia. A creek near a park reported a depth of more than 15 feet. The previous record was just under 12 feet.
More than 4 inches of rain fell in just a few hours in parts of the Midlands.
At one point, South Carolina Electric and Gas Co. reported nearly 4,000 customers without service Sunday.
Emergency officials in Charleston had to use an inflatable boat to rescue a woman trapped in a car on a flooded street.
More than 2 inches of rain fell in just an hour Sunday afternoon in downtown Charleston.
Rain also problems on a street behind Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
