Meeting held to discuss plans for cellular tower

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A plan to build a cellular tower in one Savannah neighborhood is not sitting well with some residents. A town hall meeting at Calvary Baptist Chapel on Waters Avenue was held Monday night to discuss the situation. Vantage Tower Group is the company that wants to build the 120 foot tower on 57th Street, just east of Waters Avenue.

"There are concerns about the visibility of the facility. There are concerns about the design of the facility, the function of the facility, and why it is being located here -- all the normal questions we would expect from any neighborhood," said Jack Butler, Metropolitan Planning Commission.

A technical review of the plan should be ready in one week. After the Metropolitan Planning Commission takes a look at it, there will be a meeting at the end of August to discuss it.
