Operation Flashlight providing flashlights to military families

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

AWWIN and Grace Culture International are working together to provide community outreach to military families.

Sarahlyn Argrow, founder of Assisting Working Women In Need, decided to hold a flashlight and battery drive for military families. She said the idea for Operation Flashlight came about after a trip to visit her daughter last year.

"I went to visit my daughter last year in July, we've been planning this for a year now, and her lights went out in the apartment complex she was living in. I realized that she had flashlights to leave me, but there were families in the military such as just civilians who did not have the luxury of flashlights to leave at home for their family members." Argrow said.

AWWIN is asking that businesses, organizations, churches and other groups hold their own flashlight and battery drives as well. Operation Flashlight runs through Nov. 1.
