A message for Dish Network subscribers:

At WTOC, nothing is more important to us than providing The Coastal Empire and Lowcountry with the very best in local news and weather, along with your favorite CBS programming.

In order to serve our viewers, WTOC has in place agreements with the cable and satellite companies that bring our station to your home. In fact, WTOC has such agreements in place with every TV provider in our area.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to reach an Agreement with Dish Network.

For the last few months, we have been working to resolve this matter, but so far have been unable to reach an Agreement with Dish Network for the continued carriage of WTOC.  This is particularly disappointing because all the other TV providers in our area have Agreements with us and those Agreements are fundamentally similar to the one we have been negotiating with Dish Network.

As a result, on August 1st, Dish Network customers could lose access to WTOC.

We understand how frustrating this is for you. We share your frustration. After all, you pay Dish Network 100% of your bill each month. Why shouldn't you get 100% of your channels? You can reach your local Dish Network Service Rep at 1-800-823-4929 to voice your concern.

WTOC is committed to resolving this matter. But in the meantime, you should know that you have choices. Our station will remain available on other providers and we are always available free over-the-air.

You can switch to DIRECTV at 1-855-900-3473.

You can switch to Hargray at 843-989-1123.

You can switch to Comcast at 1-800-934-6489.

You can switch to Time Warner Cable at 1-877-914-5532.

And you can always get your local broadcast channel free over the air.

Q:         Why is WTOC no longer shown on DISH Network?

A:      In order for WTOC to be carried to your home by TV providers like Dish, federal policy  requires that a negotiated agreement between the service provider and WTOC (as well as other local stations), be in place, setting the terms for carrying our signal. WTOC currently has such current agreements with ALL other area satellite and cable providers, throughout our 20-county / two-state viewing area, except Dish.  So far, our parent company, Raycom Media (Montgomery), negotiating on behalf of, not only WTOC, but also our company's 50 other owned or operated TV stations, has been unable to reach a fair and reasonable agreement with them.  

Q:      What can I do if I have lost access to WTOC on Dish Network?

A:      The good news is that you have choices. First, you can tell Dish Network to put WTOC back on its system. If enough customers speak up, Dish Network may listen. You can reach Dish Network at 1-800-823-4929.

Second, you can consider a different TV provider, such as DirecTV,  Comcast, Hargray, Time-Warner, Northland, or one of the many other local area cable operators, ALL of whom will continue to carry WTOC. You can switch to DIRECTV at 1-855-900-3473. You can switch to Hargray at 1-843-989-1123.You can switch to Comcast at 1-800-934-6489.You can switch to Time Warner Cable at 1-877-914-5532.  Other more local community cable system contact numbers can be found in your phone book.

Finally, you can always get WTOC, free, over the air, with an antenna!
