SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Savannah-Chatham Metropoliatan Police Dept. added 11 new officers Friday.

They held a pinning ceremony at department headquarters on Habersham Street.

Eight men and three women were pinned and sworn in after having completed 11 weeks of state-mandated training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Garden City, followed by an additional six weeks of patrol school at the Savannah-Chatham Metro Training Center.

"I'm looking forward to just getting out there trying to make a difference, building a partnership with the community. I believe that's one of the most important things that police officers have to do. We have the image of just being in a car and just answering calls, instead we can actually get involved in people's lives and make a difference." said Officer Matthew Davis, a new officer for the Islands precinct.

The 11 graduates:

  • Nikki Cloer
  • Matthew Davis
  • Kelsey Downham
  • Michael Dunne
  • Stephen Dupuis
  • Ronnie Hamilton
  • Austin Neumann
  • Kenneth Redfield
  • Derrick Roberson
  • Diandra Sabb
  • Stephen Santoro
