SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Tuesday night instantly became a very busy night for police, EMS and emergency room personnel.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating multiple shootings in the downtown Savannah area Tuesday evening.

Three separate shootings around 9:30pm have sent a total of five people to the hospital.

The first reported shooting was at E Broad St. & E Oglethorpe Ave where one person was taken to the hospital. A few minutes later, police were on the scene of another shooting at 39th St. & Cedar St. Three people were shot and taken to Memorial health.

Minutes later, neighbors on West 34th Street and Martin Luther King Blvd. tell WTOC two young men opened fire on a another man. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital. An officer at the scene told WTOC he did not believe the injuries were life-threatening.

Detectives are not sure at this time if the shootings are linked.

"It's way too early to even guess at that now. At the time we have different crews, or different teams investigating each of the shootings and they'll compare notes later, but we still have detectives showing up." said Julian Miller, SCMPD Public Information Officer.

The SCMPD mobile Crime Scene Unit arrived at the 39th and Cedar scene just after 11:00pm.

All five victims were sent to Memorial. There is currently no word on the conditions of each victim.
