BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - Parents still looking to score some back-to-school deals can take advantage of South Carolina's tax-free weekend.
The sales tax holiday starts in South Carolina at 12:01 a.m. Friday and continues through Sunday at midnight.
According to the National Retail Federation, a recent survey said families with school age children will spend an average of $635 on back-to-school gear this year, which is down about $50 from 2012.
In South Carolina, the state's 6 percent sales tax and local tax will be void on everything from clothes and shoes, to computers and school supplies.
LaDonna Shamlou, general manager of Tanger Outlets in Bluffton, said shoes, backpacks and uniforms are the items that tend to sell the fastest.
