SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Rain closed one major artery through Savannah on Wednesday afternoon.

Victory Drive closed to traffic in front of Daffin Park cutting off that East-West corridor during the height of rush-hour traffic. Heavy rains made a mess of several low-lying Savannah streets.

That mess continued West.

Godley Station had a road that looked more like a river. Drivers got creative, one drove on the sidewalk to avoid the wet road.

Our viewers catching the wet and wicked weather across the Coastal Empire. A backyard boating trip in Pooler. Yards in Garden City and Hardeville looking a lot more like lakes. The rain Wednesday afternoon and evening fell too hard and too fast for the ground to absorb, which caused flash flood warnings across our viewing area.
