Services set for fallen Glennville soldier

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

The body of fallen Fort Stewart soldier Sgt. Stefan M. Smith will return to Hinesville on Friday.

The Patriot Guard will escort the body of the Glennville native between 10-11 a.m. Friday to the Carter Funeral Home in Hinesville. 

The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce is requesting that people in the community line the streets on Hwy 84 near the funeral home as the family arrives. Ted Harris, a local veteran, is providing American flags for people to wave. 

The chamber is asking that people avoid parking at the funeral home to allow the family and escort to park there. Parking is available along Hwy 84. 

The viewing for Smith will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Carter Funeral Home. The funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at New Beginnings Church in Ludowici. 

Smith lived in Ludowici and is survived by his wife and three children.
