Students compete in wedding cake decorating contest

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Culinary students at Savannah Technical College showed off their decorating skills in a competition.

The cakes are the final project in a class all about cake decorating. The class is two months long. Each week, students spend 20 hours on cake decorating. They're required to use seven of 16 different cake decorating cakes on a two-tier cake.

Their instructor was pleased with the results.

"You have no idea how proud of them I am - and how good it feels to see this kind of work," said Jean Yves Vendeville, head of the culinary program at Savannah Tech.

Amber Gorlesky won first place and received the three-book series called "Sugarcraft". Karla Gonzalez earn second place and Angel Foley won third place.
