Shoppers stock up on tax-free school supplies

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

It's day two of the tax-free weekend in South Carolina and shoppers are definitely taking advantage of the bargain hunting this weekend.

The mall has been packed as students get ready to go back to school but it's not just crowds at the mall. Shoppers are on the hunt for a deal, trying to get the most bang for their buck, at no other than Dollar General where they too sell clothes and supplies.

When WTOC was there Saturday afternoon, they had already re-stocked their shelves three times.

The store manager said shoppers are taking advantage of the dollar deals combined with no tax, mostly looking to stock up on school supplies.

"Composition books, number two pencils, the good the old Crayola Crayons and a lot of customers this year are getting a lot more of the college notebook paper," said Janet Bishop, Dollar General Manager.
