Mother of shooting victim speaks out

Police are asking the public's help in locating a 21-year-old man they have charged with murder and aggravated assault in the shootings of three teenagers tuesday night. WTOC spoke with the mother of the teenager shot in the leg about the impact this has had on her family.

Sabrina Harris waits at home for her daughter to return from the hospital after she was shot in the leg in a drive by shooting earlier this week.

"I feel bad for the people that lost theirs. I think by the grace of god I have my child still" said Sabrina Harris. "My daughter is 15 years old. She was an innocent bi-stander. She was on her way back to my sisters carriage house where she stays for the summer, every summer."

Police say David Daniels Jr. is the man who shot and killed two teenagers and seriously inured another in a shooting on 39th St. and Cedar St. Tuesday night. 18 year-old Dominique Bright and 15 year-old Syheem Spaulding died en-route to the hospital.

Daniels has been charged with the murders of Bright and Spaulding and aggravated assault of 15 year-old Sha'nai Harris, Sabrina's daughter.

"She was just leaving the house 2 seconds before the shooting. If it wasn't for Dominique Bright, my child wouldn't have been here today. She suffered a gun shot wound in her femora bone, that has taken out her bone, and now she has a rod." said Harris.

This has really taken a toll on Harris and her family, just 3 months ago her daughter was hit by a person texting and driving.

"Within the last four months my daughter has been through a whole lot. She is depressed. She is down. She is out. All I'm asking that he turns himself in. It isn't going to bring her bone back or the guys back that were killed. It is a senseless killing and a senseless shooting it not right for a 15 year old that has nothing to do with that. She is a straight a student she loves school and everyone in the community loves her." said Harris.

Sha'nai should be home from the hospital by tomorrow.

Police say Daniels should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call 911 right away.
