This WTOC Super 11 All-Star, defensive tackle Kaylon "Poona" Ford of hilton head high, knows where he is going and what he wants to do.
Earlier this week he gave a verbal commitment to play at Louisville along with former Savannah Christian star, D'Angelo Brown, the 2011 WTOC Defensive Player of the Year, "When I went up there for my visit I hung out with some of the players. There is a player up there from this area and I just hung out with him and then the facilities are just beautiful."
Coach B. J. Payne thinks he will be very successful at the next level, "I think he'll go in there and play as a freshman. He's an extremely gifted, special player. He's truly a once in a lifetime kid."
Ford loves the game and enjoys the physical part of playing defense. People who know him well off the field say that he is a different person when he crosses those white lines. "I'm like off the field, I'm a nice person and when it comes to football, I'm very aggressive and I love contact," said Ford. "My goal is to like cause havoc for every one of my opponents."
Coach Payne says he is a skilled athlete with a lot of strengths to help the Seahawks, "I think his biggest attribute is his high motor and that he never gives up on a play. His explosiveness, his power, his quickness, his overall speed, he's got all the tools that you need." Ford added, "I play pretty much every position when it comes to like, I play fullback, I play some running back, middle linebacker my sophomore year. I play D-End, defensive tackle, nose. Pretty much everything."
Ford says he just loves the game and it's going to pay for his education. He says a knee injury got him interested in becoming a physical therapist in the future, "I could really see myself having a future in this. I just thought it was really cool and fun."
