A burglary suspect has been arrested in the Lowcountry.

Officers with the Ridgeland Police Department say that after a high speed chase that started in Ridgeland and ended with a collision in Beaufort County on Big Estate Circle in Yemassee, Dennis Lamont Williams lost control of his car and ran off the roadway, causing the car to flip several times.

Williams then attempted to flee on foot but was captured a few minutes later. He was transported to Beaufort Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Williams is also a suspect in a burglary that happened Aug. 6 at a home in the North Ridge community. The homeowner has video surveillance of Williams breaking in and leaving with several items.

Williams was charged with burglary in the 1st degree and currently awaits a bond hearing by a Circuit Court judge.
