Jasper County teachers prep for new year

JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) -

Jasper County schools don't start classes until next Monday, but teachers reported to work Monday morning to get their classes ready.

The Jasper County School District received an F on the Palmetto Achievement of State Standardized Test. Teachers said the F is not a true reflection of their district.

They say the district has seen tremendous growth especially in Math and they can't wait to get students back in the classroom to continue that growth.

"[I'm] looking forward to it. [I'm] looking forward to the opportunity to let our students be showcased and show what they can do. They can do many, many things," said Brandon Hutson, a music teacher at Hardeeville Elementary.

"My theme this year is going to be wowed about learning. I want them to be wowed about learning as soon as they walk into the classroom I want them to be excited," said Shelie White, a teacher at Ridgeland Elementary.

Most teachers are excited about the upcoming school year and they can't wait for their students to return to the classroom.
