Emergency preparedness was the talk of Wednesday's Business for Breakfast event in Beaufort.
Attendees learn from those who know how prepare for severe weather such as hurricanes. WTOC Meteorologist John Wetherbee was among the guest speakers.
Experts stress that planning in advance is key.
"If you leave late during the
evacuation, you can't expect to get the closest hotel room and you certainly
can't expect to get a hotel room. So again it comes with the preplanning, you
wouldn't show up to a vacation destination without a hotel reservation, would
you? So you need to do that for your hurricane planning also," said Todd
Ferguson, director of Beaufort County Emergency Management Agency.
