Utility work to cause I-95 delays in Chatham Co.

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Utility work is scheduled to take place at 7:30 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 95 in Chatham County, weather permitting. Drivers should expect delays. 

Traffic pacing is being used for the relocation of transmission lines, according to the Georgia Dept. of Transportation. 

The work will take place on I-95 northbound and southbound between mile marker 13.26 and mile marker 13.27. The DOT said traffic pacing typically start 5 miles away from the work zone.

Traffic will be paced 20 mph starting five miles out from the actual transmission line crossing not to exceed 15 minutes. 

Authorities from the Chatham County Sheriff's Office will be leading the traffic pacing. 

Drivers are urged to use alternate routes if possible.
