Pond search turns up possible murder weapon

After ten hours of searching over two days, a dive team recovered a gun in a pond near Baker Highway and Waldroup Drive in Douglas Friday afternoon.

Investigators believe it's the weapon used to kill Daquavious Reed July 11th. It'll be sent to the Moultrie Crime Lab to be processed.

Reed's grandmother is thankful three men were arrested and charged with the murder this week. Gladys Williams said, "I'm very much pleased. I'm so thankful, grateful that this case has came to conclusion that we know who did it, so we just waiting on justice now."

Investigators are still working several unsolved murders in Douglas and Coffee County over the last several years.

Officials held a news conference Friday afternoon to assure people they are still working those cases and urging anyone with information about them to talk to investigators.
