SCDOT revises Beaufort paving work plan

BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

The South Carolina Dept. of Transportation will begin paving work on Bay Street in before after Labor Day.

The DOT revised the paving work schedule after meeting with city leaders and other stakeholders.

The paving of several major Beaufort streets will start the day after Labor Day, the DOT announced Monday.

Milling, paving and re-striping of Bay Street will start Sept. 3 and will continue the rest of the week, weather permitting, according to the DOT.

Work will also be done on  parts of Charles Street, North Street, Bay Street, Lafayette Street, Waddell Road and Battery Creek Road.

 Later in September-October, new traffic signal mast arms will be installed at Charles Street intersections downtown.

Paving work schedule, weather permitting:

Bay Street:                                              

Sept. 3 – 6

Lafayette Street

Sept. 9 – 13

North Street and Charles Street             

Sept. 16  - 20

Battery Creek Road and Waddell Road  

Sept. 23 - 30

The work had been scheduled to begin this week, but was postponed until a meeting could be held to review logistics and scheduling.
