MARIETTA, GA (WTOC) - A teenager who's also accused in fatal shooting of a Brunswick toddler testified Friday.

De'Marquise Elkins is accused of fatally shooting 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in a stroller in Brunswick. He's is charged with nine counts, including malice murder, in the March 21 slaying of Antonio.

On Thursday, the 15-year-old co-defendant of Elkins told the court that Elkins shot the child.

Dominque Lang testified that he was walking with Elkins when they saw the boy's mother Sherry West with her stroller. He said Elkins demanded her purse and then pulled out a gun. When she refused, he hit her in the face and threatened the child.

Lang said he saw Elkins point the gun at the baby and heard a third shot. He testified that Elkins fired at the ground and then shot West in the leg.

Elkins faces life in prison if convicted of murder. At the time of the shooting he was 17, which is too young to be considered for the death penalty if convicted under Georgia law.
